The restaurant at the Schoolhouse Hotel was the main classroom of the former Lydiard Tregoze school building. Enjoy freshly prepared food whilst looking out over the glorious countryside between Swindon and Royal Wootton Bassett.
We run our restaurant in an old fashioned and relaxed manner. There is no formal dress code or “jacket and tie” requirement in our restaurant but disallow work clothes, cycling or sport outfits. to make sure all guests feel at home.
If you cannot visit our restaurant at the Schoolhouse Hotel in Royal Wootton Bassett then ask us to deliver. We have temperature controlled catering vehicles delivering our food to your home or office.
Meet the Chef
Meet Tonny our chef, when he's not in the kitchen he helps Karen run the School House Hotel.
"My hotel school training and previous experience includes butchery, fish mongery, bakery, patisserie and some 30 years or so cooking. I prepare all our food in our own kitchen. During my training I spent time in a
hospital diet kitchen and can prepare food for all diets given some notice to get specialist ingredients."
"Having worked around Europe I like to cook little known traditional French food, Italian, colonial inspired food as well as Dutch or British. And I will try anything new. We have a temperature controlled food vehicle with which I regularly drive to local producers to see what they have on offer."
"I have come home with wild trout, capons, squirrel, goat, muntjac, locally grown mushrooms, foraged mushrooms and purple carrots, just to name a few. I am very excited about more modern food products like sakura, micro herbs, pea shoots or wheat grass. Edible flowers feature regularly on my menus. Brilliant way to make lovely tasting food look fantastic."
"When I am not cooking I help Karen running the hotel. After which it is book keeping with a bottle of Amarone della Valpolicella. Wine is my favourite tipple and I like to keep a stock of rare and fine wines and mondaine beauties."

Foyer & Room Service Menu
We serve competativey priced meals to hotel guests in our foyer as well as roomservice.
No reservation is required but it helps if you let us know on arrival if you wish to eat.
Available all week from 17.00 to 20.00 hrs. Other hours on request.

Complimentary room service breakfast is included in all room rates unless specifically excluded.
Monday to Friday 07.30 hrs.. to 9.00 hrs. Week-end & Bank Holidays 08.00 hrs to 09.30 hrs.
A La Carte breakfast is available at £ 27.50 to 37.50 per breakfast . Dishes may change daily and are subject to availability. A La Carte Breakfast is served 08.00 hrs. to 9.30 hrs.
Morning Coffee
Morning coffee from £ 24.00 is served from 09.00 hrs to 11.00 hrs. Monday to Saturday.
Full payment is required at the time of reservation as all items are prepared from fresh.
We only take a limited amount of reservations so as to provide a calm and relaxing atmosphere
so that you may meet old friends and natter the he morning away in a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
Afternoon Tea
Afternoon tea is available Monday to Saturday 13.00 to 16.00 hrs. or as “Morning coffee” 09.00 to 11.00 hrs.
Afternoon tea is £ 24.00 or £ 29.00 for a plant based variety. Advanced reservations and prepayment are required.
Dinner
A la carte Dinner is served Friday and Saturday or
if you have booked dinner, accommodation and breakfast all week.
£ 43.50 for 3 courses or £ 37.50 for 2 courses.
Please advise any dietary needs with reservation.
Online reservations are required.
Sundays we only serve dinner to hotel residents with prior confirmed reservation.
Wine List
We purchase wine from many suppliers in batches and replace these with different wines
each time. If you are looking for a certain wine for an event, please contact us with your
chosen wine. Payment is required up front and we will then store the wine for you.
